As France is bracing for another heatwave, Paris is allowing swimming in one of its canals so residents could cope with the heat. It will be the second spell of hot temperatures this year, after an unusually scorching week in May. Later in the summer, swimmers will also be able to cool off at designated points along the Seine River. FRANCE 24’s Emerald Maxwell tells us more from the canal.

Two men who played football at west suburban Wheaton College, including one who was coaching at an area high school, drowned in Lake Michigan on Saturday off the western Michigan shoreline. According to WOODTV of Grand Rapids, one of WGN-TV’s Nexstar sister stations, authorities identified the victims as 24-year-old Philip LoChirco of west suburban Warrenville and 26-year-old Jalen Shaffer of Ada, Michigan.

‘It’s Unfathomable’: Parents Shaken After 9-Year-Old Dies in Potential Drowning at Swimrva Summer Camp
A 9-year-old boy is dead after he was pulled, unresponsive, from a Henrico County pool while he was participating in a SwimRVA summer camp on Monday.
The Henrico County Police Division said they were called to the area of N. Wilkinson Road for a medical emergency around 2:40 p.m. on Monday, June 15. There, they found the child unresponsive after he was removed from a pool. He was taken to a hospital, where he later died.
Mother LaTaisha Johnson has identified the boy as 9-year-old King Overton.
