This Sunday two hundred swimmers from across China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau are taking part in a unique event – swimming from Taiwan’s offshore island of Kinmen to China. But despite the festive and unifying atmosphere, the Island is a potential flash point for a military escalation between Tapei and Beijing, which claims sovereignty over Taiwan.
