Breaking news from my good friend Jesper Harder at Herning Svømmeklub, LEN has awarded Denmark and the Danish city of Herning the 2013 European Short Course Swimming Championships, to be held in the Jyske Bank Boxen multiarena. Here is a photo of ‘The Box’, taken when Jesper drove me from Holstebro til Billund Airport after the 2012 Aqua Clinic. I’ll post it as tomorrow’s CC photo already today :-)

The ‘nomadic’ French coach Philippe Lucas at the Rijeka 2008 European Short Course Swimming Championships, a year after his split with long-time protegé Laure Manaudou. If I remember correctly, here at Rijeka 2008 coaching Romania’s Camelia Potec. As of September 2008, he is now again coaching Italy’s Federica Pellegrini, along with Amaury Leveaux and others at Narbonne, see for instance SwimNews.

Behold a Glock 22 being fired underwater, more awesome photos and video to be seen here on PetaPixel. So it was seems to be true what our physics teacher taught us at engineering school, that you wouldn’t be able to shoot through a 1 meter thick aquarium.

  • Singapore Swimming Association reprimanded for London 2012 fiasco

In a statement sent to the media on Friday, The Singapore National Olympic Council reprimanded the Singapore Swimming Association for not maintaining due diligence to ensure that the national swimmer Joseph Schooling’s swimwear met FINA regulations. The swimmer was forced to swim with new equipment on his Olympic debut, which the SNOC say cost the 17-year old his chance at the Games, having been left rattled at the London Aquatic Centre before posting a time more than two seconds off his personal best.

Now, I’ve heard the same story from another federation, with swimmers feeling outright harassed by officials. So maybe there was a systemic error, also.
