Swimming is therapeutic for Multiple Sclerosis
Read ChicagoNow
Swimming has many benefits for me as well as others suffering from MS or other limiting injuries and illnesses.
Balance:Â My right leg is worse than my left, which causes balance issues. Â Tree pose on my right side is almost impossible. Â The water creates an equilibrium where I feel balanced and easily glided through the water.
Low Impact:Â Easy on the body, but a full body workout. Â Although I still felt the numbness in the water, I didn’t feel held back or less able due to the disease.
Temperature:Â Many people say the heat makes their MS worse. Â I’ve found the cold affects me and makes my legs stiff. Â Regardless, for those that suffer from the heat the water will cool them off and for me the water felt warming.

Build a Swimming Tank for Darpa and Make a Million Dollars
Darn, I thought they meant some kind of swimming pool, not an amphibious infantry vehicle. Read Wired and visit VehicleFORGE
The Pentagon’s blue-sky researchers are gambling that you can build a swimming tank for the Marines in a fraction of the time it takes the military’s lumbering acquisitions process. All you need are the relevant data and a set of web-based collaborative tools. And its gamble will pay you a million dollars if you’re part of the winning design team.
