    “The polar bear swim is a tradition in Vancouver (and in other places as well) to swim in the cold wintery waters of English bay beach on the first day of every new year, as a means of beginning a fresh new year whilst having some unassuming fun.”

    “Michael needs to smell the flowers after having such a competitive career.”

    “They remain friendly,” Susan said, adding: “They were too young.”

    A seaside town’s mayor says a pair of skinny dippers who joined in an annual Boxing Day charity swim spoiled the event for many people. Read and listen on BBC News

    “Unfortunately this year two people took it into their heads to skinny dip… which was unpleasant really.

    “But the worst aspect of it was that one of them felt it necessary on the way out to extend or embellish his front with what appeared to be a long sock which made it into an even more unpleasant breach of public decency.”

    This is the 93rd annual Polar Bear Swim in Vancouver, BC. An estimated 2,500 swimmers hit the 44 F water with many cracking open the bubbly in a futile attempt to stay warm.
