A new place to splash around and get some laps in has officially opened in Greensboro.
A grand opening for the fourth and newest pool at the Greensboro Aquatic Center was held Tuesday.
The new 27,000 square-foot addition provides 19 extra swimming lanes, making Greensboro Aquatic Center the largest indoor swimming facility in the country. GAC says the new pool will offer more space for aquatic events and programs in high demand.

Celebrating the legacy of two lifetimes | The Pool
For more than 30 years, John & Nina Manning were the faces of the Bathurst pool.
They ran the pool and the canteen, keeping an eye on swimmers doing their laps and kids who may or may not have been getting up to mischief on hot summer days.
In memory of their dedication, the Bathurst community petitioned to change the name of the local aquatic centre to memorialise the couple, and locals described the impact the Manning’s had on their childhoods.
Thanks in part to the community support, the Bathurst Aquatic Centre has been renamed the Manning Aquatic Centre in memory of John & Nina.
