Volunteers experience the 3 effects of cold water immersion – cold shock, cold incapacitation & hypothermia. Learn how to survive a fall into cold water. When a person is immersed in cold water without a life jacket on, there are limits to how long a person can keep themselves afloat – regardless of what swimming (or floating) technique is used.

Melanie Olhaus secured a date with Chad Le Clos after bunking off school earlier this year to greet the South African Olympic team as they returned home. The magnificent Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Sports Complex during pre-competition training just before the Dubai 2010 World Short Course Swimming Championships began, venue of the Dubai 2012 World Cup leg these days. This view just below from where the sheiks sat, but actually all seats were bolstered VIP seats, only they got better and better with carpets and flower pots and everything :-)

Cameron Van der Burgh shares his thoughts and feelings on the forthcoming Fina Arena Swimming World Cup, his triumphant summer and Dubai. Interesting that his coach apparently still is Dirk Lange, former national coach of South Africa who went back to Germany and then let go again from that position. CVDB calls him ‘the best coach in the world‘.
