Swimmer tries to steal yacht by towing it behind him
26-year-old Phillip Beach was arrested in Seabrook near Galveston, Texas, on Friday after the harbour master in the nearby shipyard alerted local police to what appeared to be a theft in progress. When police arrived, they saw Beach swimming in the channel tethered to a 44-foot sailboat named the Flying Pearl that he was attempted to tow behind him as he swam for deeper water. A simple and cheap swim resistance chute solution
Behold Anne Forsell’s almost free swim resistance parachute solution, demonstrated by René Thomsen and a swimmer at Berns. You tie a string to a plastic bag and a belt, and presto, a chute for instance for when on a training camp. If it is good enough for Stefan Nystrand, it is good enough for you ! :-)

African Swimming Championships Kick Off in Kasarani
“Kenyan swimmers registered mixed results on the 1st day of the African Senior Swimming Championships at the Moi Sports Center Kasarani, with South African swimmers dominating most of the events. Jason Dunford won silver and bronze in the men’s 50 meter backstroke and 200 meter freestyle respectively. However Emily Muteti and Martha Opiyo failed to spackle in the women’s 400 meter individual medley.”

Time for the Piombino 2012 Open Water Europeans
Tomorrow morning at 10:00 CET, the 2012 European Open Water Swimming Championships will start in Piombino, Italy, with the men’s 10K and then the women’s 10K at 13:30 CET. See the official schedule here and the start lists here, featuring among others the London 2012 Olympic silver medalist Thomas Lurz, and our guy Pál Joensen, Pál sort of as part of his holidays.
