After having taken half a year off to contemplate his swimming future, 2010 European SC bronze medalist and 2012 Olympic finalist Job Kienhuis (NED) has decided to put an end to his sports career, to focus on his studies and social life. Read Hollandswimming.nl

‘In 2007 I went to Eindhoven with the aim to go to London. That goal I have achieved. Now I’d need a new goal. I can think of something, but I can not muster the motivation and desire to do the same as I have the past five years,’ explains Kienhuis

Two things that really surprised me: One, the way the pigs come running out of the woods when they hear a boat approaching, and two, what good swimmers pigs are. We tend to think of pigs as overweight and lethargic, but these pork chops could churn butter, and they sure earn their paycheque. Thick-bodied and tone, the pigs must have a religion based around the ritual, the daily sounds of the motor and the appearance of foreign beings. When they hear the boat, they know it’s feeding time.
