    Marines are amphibious by nature, and at the Marine Corps Water Survival School, they are taught how to master the water, instead of being taken by it. Pfc. John Tucker takes us to Camp Johnson, North Carolina, where Marines attend the rigorous three-week course to become Instructors of Water Survival.

    44-year-old Ali Rashid has been banned from every swimming pool, sauna and hot tub in Britain, public or private to which women have access to for the next five years. This after admitted assaulting a woman in the steam room in a hotel last year. Sentencing him to eight months in jail, suspended for a year, the judge also imposed a curfew which requires Rashid to be at his home address between the hours of 7pm and 6am every night until August 9, and to be registered as a sex offender for 10 years.

    “Henry was great. One second everything was fine, and the next second the wave came and swept him in—it happened like that,” said Klum, snapping her fingers. “And he knew what to do. He kind of went under and swam out. It took like four seconds and he was out. I just had to take him and grab him and yank him out.”

    Chinese swimmer Sun Yang won gold medals in the 800m and 1,500m freestyles at the FINA World Championships in 2011, but his coach thinks he can win four titles at the event in July.

    “My target is to help him regain his peak form like he had in London as soon as possible, said coach Zhu Zhigen. “(If we can do that), he will have a chance to win four individual events (ranging from the 200m to the 1,500m).”

    Australian swimmer James Magnussen, who made his Olympic debut at the London 2012 Games, has agreed an endorsement deal with luxury watch brand Maurice Lacroix.

    Magnussen (centre of picture) will become a brand ambassador of the Swiss firm, having previously held ambassadorial roles with Commonwealth Bank and Samsung in the lead up to London 2012, while his endorsement deal with Subway is set to expire in May.

  • Henrik Christiansen sets 4 Norwegian junior records at Eindhoven 2013

    17-year-old Henrik Christiansen had an impressive run at the Eindhoven 2013 Swim Cup this weekend, first breaking three Norwegian junior records in the 200, 800 and 1500 on Saturday, and then taking down also the 400 freestyle Norwegian junior record on Sunday. Undoubtedly the strongest up-and-coming Nordic long distance swimmer, and that is saying a lot ! :-)

    Henrik’s 4 new Norwegian Junior Records

    • 200 free 1:52.33 (old record was Jarl Inge Melberg 1:52.93 in 1988)
    • 400 free 3:58.23 (old record was Gard Kvale 4:00.01 in 2002)
    • 800 free 8:17.76 (old record was Henrik Christiansen 8:18.74 in 2012)
    • 1500 free 15:40.79 (old record was Henrik Christiansen 15.44.70 in 2013)

    Henrik almost broke the 400 IM Nordic Junior record also, with a time of 4:32.51, the current record being Kim Henriksen’s 4:31.21 from 1997.

  • Swim Team Comes Together To Help Out Their Coach

    The Marlin’s Swim Team Season ended a few weeks ago, but they’re still in the pool, swimming in support of their coach. Coach Keaton Brown says, “They’re more supportive you know than any other team that I’ve coached in the past.”

    Last fall Brown’s father Milton was diagnosed with an aggressive form of bladder cancer called small cell carcinoma. Brown says, “I really felt helpless and really wanted to do something.”
