29 Danish swimmers selected for the Herning 2013 European Short Course Championships
After the final night of finals at the Danish Short Course Championships 2013, Danish Swimming’s Sports Director Mikkel von Seelen announced the squad for Herning 2013, including all 28 that qualified for individual events, plus Danish record setting breaststroke Mathias Andersen who has been selected to strengthen the (medley) relays. Rikke Møller Pedersen named Danish Swimmer of the Year 2013
Today on the last day of Danish Short Course Championships 2013, the Danish Coaches Association announced that its members had chosen Rikke Møller Pedersen as Danish Swimmer of the Year 2013, based on her results in the period 1 September 2013 until 31 August 2013. Highlights of the year were her World Championship title in the women’s 200 meter SC breaststroke at Istanbul 2013, and the her World record in the 200 long course breaststroke at Barcelona 2013. Danish national coach Nick Juba selects three more Great Danes

Danish national coach Nick Juba has today selected Frans , Chris Christensen and Niklas Hedegaard for the Great Danes project, in addition to the 10 already pointed out to be specially cared for and challenged  in order to lift the male side of Danish swimming. They are thus 13, meaning Juba isn’t particularily superstitious :-)

Danish Short Course Champs 2013 – Day 4
Summary
A seemingly good night with 4 more swimmers qualifying for Herning 2013 and lots of already qualified swimmers qualifying for additional events. Jeanette Ottesen clocked 23.98 in the 50 freestyle and 56.65 in the 100 fly, and ‘our guy’ Magnus Jákupsson won the 100 backstroke in impressive 51.75.
These four swimmers were added to the Danish Herning 2013 roster:
- 200 breast M – Emil Klingberg
- 200 free W – Julie Brøndum Pedersen
- 100 fly W – Christina Munkholm
- 200 back W – Sarah Bro

Lotte Friis to stay with Bow Bowman and NBAC towards Rio 2013

Lotte Friis will be moving permanently to the U.S. to prepare optimally for the Olympic Games in Rio in 2016 with Michael Phelps’ legendary coach, Bob Bowman.

What to expect
With only one night left of the program, I guess stress will begin to set in for those who have been just close to the Herning 2013 time limits yet. Jeanette Ottesen and Rikke Møller Pedersen will cruise to victory and Herning 2013 selection in the 100 fly and 100 breast, and Ottesen probably also in the 50 freestyle, while we will see a better fight for instance in the men’s and women’s 200 freestyle. Faroese guy Magnus Jákupsson will try to qualify in the 100 backstroke and 50 butterfly, back-to-back.
