Preview Danish SC Champs Day 4 – Sunday 17 Nov 2013

Start Lists • Live Stream • Live Timing • Live Results

What to expect

With only one night left of the program, I guess stress will begin to set in for those who have been just close to the Herning 2013 time limits yet. Jeanette Ottesen and Rikke Møller Pedersen will cruise to victory and Herning 2013 selection in the 100 fly and 100 breast, and Ottesen probably also in the 50 freestyle, while we will see a better fight for instance in the men’s and women’s 200 freestyle. Faroese guy Magnus Jákupsson will try to qualify in the 100 backstroke and 50 butterfly, back-to-back.

Women’s 4×100 freestyle and Men’s 4×100 medley

A couple of relays to start the last, important night for individual swimmers. Meh.

Herning 2013 Time Standard: n/a

Favorites

  1. Mathilde Huss-Hansen (1994) 16:36.53

  2. Ida Schütt (1996) 16:56.74

  3. Emma Wael (1993) 17:01.63

  4. Maj Howardsen (1997) 17:09.25

  5. Amalie Østrup (1997) 17:11.69

  7. Anna Boutrup (1998) 17:18.81

  8. Stephanie Hansen (1996) 17:29.99

Prediction

As a non-qualifying event for European or Nordic champs, this one’s just for national honor. Mathilde Huss-Hansen has clearly the best entry time in this event, but Maj Howardsen was quicker in the 400 freestyle, yesterday. Ida Schütt is swimming the 400 IM straight after this one with an outside chance of making the Herning 2013 team.

  7. Asta Blanch (1998) 4:57.60

  8. Katrine B. Hansen (1999) 4:57.72

Prediction

Julie Aglund Lauridsen should qualify in this event for Herning 2013, as she has in the 200 IM and the 400 and 800 freestyle. Sidse Kehlet and Julie Leth-Espensen also qualified in the 200 IM, and then there’s second-ranked Ida Schütt here who apparently will have been swimming 1500 freestyle just before this event.

  7. Niklas Broch Thielemann (1994) 2:19.16

  8. Mikkel Austmann (1991) 2:19.57

Prediction

Chris Christensen managed a time of 2:11.82 in the prelims, needs only 2:11.08 to make the Herning 2013 team in this event also, and has the Danish record of 2:05.38. Emil Klingberg was second-fastest this morning in 2:13.94.

  5. Christina Munkholm (1996) 1:59.80

  6. Julie Brøndum Petersen (1994) 2:00.68

  7. Amalie Emma Thomsen (1994) 2:00.91

  8. Line Jørgensen Bruun (1995) 2:01.53

Prediction

Mie Ø. Nielsen took down Lotte Friis’ 2009 Danish record only a few weeks ago, and has the fastest time now also after the prelims this morning, 1:59.20 to Lotte Friis’ 2:00.09. This will hopefully be a great race, but Nielsen might just leave Friis behind from the get-go.

Men’s 100 individual medley

  8. Julius Skaarup Schmidt (1988) 57.05

Prediction

Chris Christensen managed a time of 54.99 in the prelims yesterday, to Daniel Skaaning’s 55.31. They need to swim 55.14 or faster (plus win a medal) to make the Danish team for Herning 2013 in this event, and results in finals count more than those in prelims.

European Record Senior: Diane Bui Duyet (1979) 55.05 2009-12-12

Prediction

Right. My bet is on Jeanette Ottesen Gray.

Favorites

  1. Daniel Skaaning (1993) 1:45.56

  6. Pál Joensen (1990) 1:48.12*

  7. Viktor B. Bromer (1993) 1:48.62

  8. Anton Ørskov Ipsen (1994) 1:48.62

Prediction

Sebastian Ovesen went 1:47.57 in the prelims this morning, who isn’t even on this list of favorites because of being ranked 9th with a time of 1:49.65 on the start list. He pushed out Anton Ørskov Ipsen from the final, the rest of the 8 still in the game. The Herning 2013 time standard is 1:47.95, which should be manageable for at least half of them.

European Record Senior: Ruta Meilutyte (1997) 1:03.52 2012-12-15
Nordic Record Senior: Rikke Møller Pedersen (1989) 1:03.74 2013-08-10

  6. Kevin Witt Christensen (1995) 55.15

  7. Mads Knoblauch (1993) 55.26

  8. Anders Jensen (1987) 55.55

Prediction

An awesome fight between Danish record holder Anders Jensen, 2012 champ Andreas Schiellerup and up-and-coming Magnus Jákupsson, possibly threatened by the fact that Jákupsson (and Schiellerup?) willl be competing in the next event also, the men’s 50 butterfly. Three will qualify for Herning 2013.

Women’s 200 backstroke

European Record Senior: Daryna Zevina (1994) 2:00.81 2013-08-10
Nordic Record Senior: Pernille Larsen (1992) 2:03.50 2009-12-13

  1. Sarah Bro (1996) 2:09.77

  2. Yasmin Saud Abdulkadir (1994) 2:14.10

  3. Amalie Østrup (1997) 2:14.33

  4. Caroline Erichsen (1998) 2:14.64

  6. Stine Raaby Jensen (1995) 2:16.01

  7. Isabella K. Sørensen (1994) 2:17.53

  8. Pernille Rasmussen (1996) 2:17.58

Prediction

UPDATE: Friis has announced that she is scratching the 200 free because of not feeling so well. She has been suffering from jetlag these past few days.

A last chance for those not so well known Danish swimmers to qualify for Herning 2013. Sarah Bro should make it, and maybe others also if they improve a bit.

Men’s 50 butterfly

European Record Senior: Steffen Deibler (1987) 21.80 2009-11-14
Nordic Record Senior: Jakob S. Andkjær (1985) 22.79 2009-12-13
Danish Record Senior: Jakob S. Andkjær (1985) 22.79 2009-12-13
Danish Record Junior: Jakob S. Andkjær (1985) 24.04 2003-12-14
2012 Champ Senior: Magnus Jákupsson (1994) 24.25
Herning 2013 Time Standard: 23.68

Favorites

  1. Andreas Schiellerup (1993) 23.70

  2. Søren Dahl (1993) 23.81

  3. Magnus Jákupsson (1994) 24.03

  4. Jonas Sørensen (1990) 24.39

  5. Daniel Svane Halkjær (1991) 24.45

  6. Anton Bromer (1995) 24.48

  7. Daniel Steen Andersen (1995) 24.51

  8. Tobias Gjerløff (1995) 24.72

Prediction

Søren Dahl and Magnus Jákupsson are top contenders here (and Schiellerup also if he participates, I’m a bit confused by him clocking 4th best time in the prelims but not being on the start list for the final. The need to go 23.68 or faster to make the Herning 2013 team.

Women’s 50 freestyle

European Record Senior: Ranomi Kromowidjojo (1990) 23.24 2013-08-07
Nordic Record Senior: Therese Alshammar (1977) 23.27 2009-11-21
Danish Record Senior: Jeanette Ottesen (1987) 23.88 2013-08-10
Danish Record Junior: Mie Østergaard Nielsen (1996) 24.80 2011-12-09
2012 Champ Senior: Kelly Riber Rasmussen (1994) 25.34
Herning 2013 Time Standard: 25.25

Favorites

  1. Jeanette Ottesen (1987) 23.88

  2. Pernille Blume (1994) 24.81

  3. Julie Levisen (1997) 25.30

  4. Kelly Riber Rasmussen (1994) 25.34

  5. Pernille Juel (1994) 25.68

  6. Emilie Beckmann (1997) 25.79

  7. Julie Brøndum Petersen (1994) 26.00

  8. Lotte Friis (1988) 26.14

Jeanette Ottesen Gray was way quickest in the prelims, 24.43 to Pernille Blume’s 25.01 and Kelly Riber Rasmussen’s 25.45. They only need to manage 25.25 to be on the Herning 2013 roster in this event, which they will.

Men’s 4×50 freestyle and Women’s 4×50 individual medley

Right.
