  • Lifetime doping bans not legal, WADA president says

The World Anti-Doping Agency doubled bans for “serious doping offenders” from two years to four years last November, to be implemented in 2015, but many would like to see lifetime bans.

WADA has looked into it, and it doesn’t appear to be an option.

“Our advice was that [life bans] would be challenged and would not be sustainable in law,” WADA president Craig Reedie told the BBC. “A four-year penalty will stand up in court and takes a person out of the cycle of an Olympic Games.”

Arcus Motion Analyzer is a ring-sized activity tracker than also recognizes gestures. This means that the device can give real-time feedback on things like sports while also being able to connect to and control various devices via Bluetooth.

Users can wear multiple Arcus devices to provide metrics on things like kayaking strokes, and the device is resistant to water and other liquids thanks to wireless charging.

The Arcus Motion Analyzer is currently raising funds for further development and mass production via a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign.

See that big black blob in the water? That’s not an oil slick -it’s a school of fish! Still, when a swimmer gets close to them, it looks like a drop of dishwashing liquid in greasy water as the fish try to avoid a potential predator.

Always, maker of feminine products, has made a “Girl Power” commercial, directed by Lauren Greenfield, “Sundance Film Festival award-winning creator of The Queen of Versailles, according to AdAge.com.

In the ad, Greenfield asks girls of all ages — and one young brother — what it means to do something “like a girl.” It’s interesting to note that the older girls know the phrase meant to be insulting, while the younger ones aren’t sure — one girl only guesses that it sounds like a bad thing.

With their “Like a Girl” campaign, Always is hoping to “champion girls’ confidence” as they hit puberty, as their research showed half of girls lose their confidence as they hit their teen years.
