A group of 19 women who say they were sexually abused by U.S. swim coaches have asked the International Swimming Hall of Fame to rescind the June 14 induction of USA Swimming executive director Chuck Wielgus.

The group, which includes long distance swimmer Diana Nyad, along with other current or former swimmers, coaches, family members and advocates reached out to the Women’s Sports Foundation to protest Wielgus’ induction.

So there, as fair weather hits Denmark, a pair of policemen decided to let kids use the hood of their police car as a pier plunging water slide. This at the popular park “Femøren” on the island of Amager outside Copenhagen. The brass has no problem with this, as quoted here on dr.dk:

    – Police officers are also normal people, and if you can get a good and reasonable dialog and teach kids to have a good relationship with the police, then it is only good.

High water is slowing the efforts to find a missing man who leapt into the St. Croix River to save his nephew, but officials say the unfortunate ordeal is an opportunity to raise awareness about how dangerous fast-flowing waters can be.

Calvin Vang, 11, was rescued by a Good Samaritan who jumped from a 30-foot cliff after hearing his cries. He had been fishing with his uncle, 21-year-old Touhu Vang, when he slipped and fell in. […]

It’s part of the Ditch the Ditches program and this year it’s getting a new look and mascots.

The program is also handing out more than 50,000 free swim passes with the goal of keeping kids out of drainage ditches that can turn deadly if a flash flood hits.

“It’s a good program,” said Michael Barth. “It’s been around since I was a kid.”
