FINA and LEN reject Gyárfás resignation until after court ruling
Two leading swimming federations – the FINA world body and the European LEN – have rejected the resignation of Hungarian media entrepreneur Tamás Gyárfás from their boards until a court ruling surrounding his murder charge has been made.
When asked by Magyar Nemzet, both FINA director Cornel Marculescu and LEN president Paolo Barell said they will not accept Gyárfás’ resignation until after a court decision, saying their decision was based on the presumption of innocence.
Last week, more than twenty years after the killing of then well-known Hungarian media owner János Fenyő, the Budapest prosecution charged his rival Gyárfás with incitement to murder.

Wake Sends Multiple Beachgoers To The Hospital After Ship Gets Too Close To Shore
The highways and waterways authority Rijkswaterstaat has lodged a complaint against the captain of a ship that caused a tidal wave off the coast of Vlissingen. engulfing seven people.
The agency said the Bonny River, a 160 metre-long sand dredger, passed the beach at Boulevard Bankert at a speed of 13.5 knots on Sunday evening. Two children aged five and three, as well as an adult, were taken to hospital to be checked over they were swept into the water.
A directive by Rijkswaterstaat has been in force in the area since 2011, stating that ‘a captain must adjust the speed of his vessel as “good seamanship†to prevent dangerous tidal waves forming so that no danger tor recreational beach users arises.’

Smart goggles: Here’s what it’s like to go swimming with FORM, premium AR goggles
Former Olympian and personal trainer Julia Russell tries out a pair of new AR swimmers goggles from FORM.
One summer weekend, I was granted two-day access to a nearby resort-style fitness facility with a deluxe indoor pool. So I went for a swim – while connected, of course.
Before leaving my apartment, I grabbed my iPhone (selfie or it didn’t happen), packed a pair of swimming trunks, and headed toward the door before realizing, “I forgot to charge my goggles.”
Yes, charge them – the same way you would your smartphone or your smartwatch. FORM, developed by a Vancouver-based startup, is what happens when your typical pair of swim goggles receive a total 2.0 upgrade. The water-friendly gadget is packed with hyped up tech like machine learning, augmented reality and real-time performance metrics.
I wanted to find out if the nifty eyewear from the future would live up to the hype and the results were, well, interesting.
