Swimmer who vanished during overnight swim in Pacific Beach found safe
Lifeguards say a swimmer who disappeared early Saturday in Pacific Beach has been found safe.
San Diego Lifeguards say four friends went into the ocean around 1:30 a.m. across from the Ocean Blvd. and Garnet Ave. beach entrance. But one of the friends did not return, prompting searches throughout the morning by U.S. Coast Guard and lifeguard crews.
Later Saturday, the missing person was located safe at a friend’s house, the Coast Guard told 10News.
The swimmer was reportedly celebrating his 21st birthday at the nearby Waterbar before the group went for a swim, according to San Diego Lifeguard Lieutenant Rich Stropky.

Arrested swimming coach accused of raping student brought back to Goa
Goa’s former chief swimming coach Surajit Ganguly, who was arrested on in the national capital for raping and molesting a 15-year-old swimming champion, was brought back to Panaji on Sunday by a police team.
Surajit Ganguly, who was on the run, was arrested on Friday by a joint team of policemen from Goa and Delhi, and was flown back to the coastal state on a transit remand in the early hours of Sunday.
“The accused will be produced before a local magistrate today (Sunday), where we will be seeking police custody,” a senior police official said.
