The Placer County Sheriff’s Office said two men have been swept away by currents along the North Fork American River in recent weeks, with officials citing dangerous water currents due to the melting snowpack as the main issue. The latest case happened Sunday afternoon around 4:30 p.m. in the Colfax area, according to Placer County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Angela Musallam. Musallam said a man from the Bay Area was in the river when he was quickly swept away. Rescue crews with the sheriff’s office, Cal Fire, and the State Parks department searched for the man but were unable to find him.
