Lotte Friis clocked 4:06.49 in the women’s 400 freestyle at the Danish Open 2013 in Copenhagen today, 4th best in the world this year, and Rikke MÃ¸ller Pedersen a swift 1:06.55 in the women’s 100 breaststroke semifinal, faster than her best time from the London 2012 Olympics. Young gun Magnus Westermann posted a new Danish junior record in the men’s 100 freestyle, with a time of 50.36 in the semifinal, securing him a spot on the Danish squad at the Poznan 2013 European Junior Championships this summer.
‘Our people’ from the Faroes did well too, PÃ¡l Joensen cruising to a 3:54.95 win in the men’s 400 freestyle, Birita Debes setting a Faroese record of 30.12 in the women’s 50 back prelims and then repeating that exact time to win silver in the final behind Sweden’s Ida Lindborg in 28.93. And now Danish Magnus JÃ¡kupsson winning the men’s 50 backstroke in what would have been a Faroese record of 25.92.
Katrine Holm SÃ¸rensen won the women’s 200 IM in 2:14.84 ahead of Iceland’s EyglÃ³ Ã“sk GÃºstafsdÃ³ttir in 2:15.92. And Sweden’s Erik Persson won the men’s 200 IM in 2:04.71 ahead of Norwegian junior Markus Lie in 2:09.78.
