USA’s Allison Schmitt first in the women’s 200 freestyle with a new Olympic Record of 1:53.61 ahead of Camille Muffat (FRA) in 1:55.58 and Bronte Barratt (AUS) in 1:55.81. China’s Shiwen Ye winning the women’s 200 IM in a new Olympic Record of 2:07.57 ahead of Alicia Coutts (AUS) in 2:08.15 and Caitlin Leverenz (USA) in 2:08.95. James “The Missile” Magnussen (AUS) clocking fastest time of 47.63 in the men’s 100 freestyle semifinal, Kathleen Hersey (USA) the fastest of 2:05.90 in the women’s 200 butterfly semifinal and Michael Jamieson (GBR) the fastest of 2:08.20 in the men’s 200 breaststroke semifinal.
