Arizona lake ‘electrocution incident’ kills 2 brothers, girlfriend left with ‘burn marks’ on feet, legs
Two brothers have died and a girlfriend of one was left with burn marks after a possible electrocution at a lake in Arizona, officials and family members revealed Monday.
The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office said at a news conference that 53-year-old Timothy Miller and his brother, 50-year-old Michael Miller, were out with their girlfriend and wife on a boat over the weekend at Lake Pleasant, located north of Phoenix.
Around 6:30 p.m. on Sunday when the boat was docked at the Scorpion Bay Marina, Timothy jumped into the water “for an unknown reason” and experienced what is believed to be some type of electrical current in the water, according to Sgt. Joaquin Enriquez.
“This is a complex case because not only are we dealing with the issue of the drowning but we’re dealing possible electrical current, it’s what’s being described by the witnesses on scene who were in the water,” he said.

Richard Wachs Aquatics Center officially open for public use
The Richard A. Wachs Aquatics Center at West Lafayette Jr/Sr High School is now open for public use.
The pool originally opened for high school competition back in December and is now open for adults and younger children. Swimming programs are being offered for children ages eight through 12, and the programs are open to the public.
Social distancing is required around the pool and on the pool deck, and one swimmer is permitted in a lane at a time.
Lessons are also being conducted this week with at least six feet of distance between swim instructors and students.

Why Is There No Swimming Allowed In Jamaica Pond?
As it turns out, although Jamaica Pond seems shallow from the shoreline, it’s actually a kettle hole formed by a glacier— and has a depth of more than 50 feet in some places. What’s more, the drop-off can be extremely steep. Ryan Woods, spokesperson for the Boston Parks Recreation and Development, once told the Jamaica Plain Gazette “It drops like a black hole, creating a dangerous situation.â€
In fact, swimming in Jamaica Pond was banned after two drownings in the mid-1970s. Before that, swimming was enjoyed for generations, and the Pond was even a popular site for massive Four of July celebrations and swimming contests in the late 1800s and early 1900s. The subsequent ban hasn’t totally prevented additional tragedies: The most recent drowning in the pond occurred in 2007 when a woman drowned fully clothed near a shallow beach on the northern end. There was a public debate in 2008 about bringing swimming back to Jamaica Pond, but it was quickly dismissed over such safety concerns.

Updated – The body of a missing swimmer in Monroe County was recovered Monday morning.
