    Ehm, checking and re-checking the calendar, but apparently it isn’t April 1 yet 🙂

    Which increases the buoyancy of the water. The helium in the water, therefore, gives the swimmer a bit of a lift, which increases the whole body position in the water. The higher the swimmer is on the water, the less resistance.

    The first UK Cold Water Swimming Championships, held over the weekend of 21-22 January 2006, launched the centenary celebrations for the Lido and the South London Swimming Club. The event had been inspired by a trip to Finland the previous year by a small group of intrepid SLSC swimmers who took part in the ice swimming championships at Oulu. The inaugural UK event attracted 320 swimmers from home and abroad.

    Ice swimming paired with Finnish sauna is very popular in Finland! I decided to cut a hole in the ice and give it a try myself! Heating the sauna and cutting the hole in the ice was the easy part, now I just had to gather the strength to jump in the ice-cold water for a refreshing ice swim! As jumping into the cold water for ice swimming is quite extreme, make sure to know the dangers associated before trying it and never do this alone! Thank you for watching!
