Haughey’s success also marked the first time a Hong Kong swimmer has reached an Olympic final.

The 23-year-old, the daughter of a Hong Kong mother and Irish father, was the first swimmer from the city to compete in an Olympic final. Though she was 0.42 seconds behind Australian swimmer Ariarne Titmus, Haughey smashed the Asian record with a time of 1:53.92.

South Korean Swimming Sensation Hwang Sun-Woo Makes It to 100m Freestyle Final | Arirang News
Now, let’s turn to the Olympics … and South Korea’s new swimming sensation is making headlines again.

Do-yeon, the teenage star having a great Olympics so farMark, that’s right… South Korean teenage swimming star, Hwang Sun-woo, for the first time in the country’s history, made it to the final of the men’s 100m freestyle.
He got there by swimming 47-point-five-six seconds in the semi-final to be the fourth fastest in the round AND set a new Asian record.
He was just zero-point-zero-four seconds behind third… so fans are hopeful that he can get a good result in the final on Thursday morning.
After this… he still has two more events left… the 50m freestyle and 4-by-200m relay final.
If he manages to get on the podium… he’ll only be the second Korean to win a medal in swimming after Park Tae-hwan. -
