The Rhine originates high in the Swiss Alps, fed by glacial ice and perpetual snow. Countless small channels and streams tumble into the valley and join to form the river that will eventually become the most powerful watercourse in Europe. The most important source of the Anterior Rhine is the Tomasee in Graubuenden. Ernst Bromeis, who wants to swim the entire length of the Rhine from start to finish, trains here. The self-proclaimed “Water Ambassador” tries to raise awareness that water is a finite resource. For his project “Miracle Blue”, Ernst has already swum 200 mountain lakes.
