    Jorge Fontes is a multigenerational Azorean scientist and has developed a non-invasive technique to deploy multi-sensor tags on blue shark population in The Azores. Jorge has partnered with Fred Buyle, a freediver who was the first to successfully “lasso” a shark with this method. The long-term goal is to create dynamic (moving) marine protected areas to protect this “most fished” species of shark.
