Stephanie Rice plays rupture roulette with her injured shoulder
With only 4 weeks to go before the Olympic trials, Stephanie Rice reveals that her shoulder is basically sore at every session, never really healed after the arthroscopy in December.
“They can’t repair the tendon, it’s a six-month rehab, so I obviously didn’t have time for that,” Rice said.
“They just basically went in and cleaned it up as best as they could and I don’t know if that was the best option to have surgery right now because it didn’t really do anything.
“I had a cortisone a few weeks ago and that really seems to have settled it down a bit and I’ve been able to get through a decent amount of training. Hopefully, it would hold together for these last couple of weeks before the Olympic trials.”

D’Arcy assured London place if he makes the team
The controversial swimmer Nick D’Arcy says he has been told his bankruptcy last year will not hinder his selection in the team for the London Olympics.
“At this stage it looks like there won’t be any sort of inhibitions, going into trials,” D’Arcy said. “If I do the time and make the team, then I’ll be on the Olympic team. But I’ve got to make the team first; one step at a time.”
“It is some relief, just having that off my shoulders and knowing if I make the team I will be selected based on my performance … but anything can happen at Olympic trials and complacency can be the death of you.”
