    At the FINA 10K Marathon Swimming World Cup in Eilat (ISR) yesterday, Spyridon Gianniotis (GRE) and Ana Marcela Cunha (BRA) won gold, Gianniotis by outsprinting Thomas Lurz (GER) to a 1h52m32s45 third consecutive win out of three possible at this World Cup series and Cunho by clipping Ekaterina Seliverstova with a 2h02m37s45 to 2h02m37s80.     At the Indianapolis Grand Prix yesterday, Michael Phelps scorched the men’s 200 meter individual medley with a 1:56.41 meet record, almost two seconds under Joe Roebuck’s world-leading time of 1:58.16 from the British Olympic Trials. Read more here on SwimmingWorld Magazine

  • Mireia Belmonte García sets another Spanish record in Malaga

    24-year-old Lauren Boyle, who has qualified for the Olympics in three individual events and the 4×200 freestyle relay, has been honored for an outstanding 2011, including finals in the 400 and 800 freestyle in Shanghai, a semifinal in the 200 freestyle, helping the 4×200 to qualify for the Olympics there, and winning five medals at the following World University Games in Shenzhen.   • Lack of vision doesn’t stop Jeffrey Cone

    You would never know by looking at him, but Jeffrey is legally blind. He was born with a rare genetic eye condition. He has no color vision whatsoever, meaning that his depth perception is off, and cannot see longer than 10 feet in front of him. But get him in the water, and he’s just like everyone else.
