Swimming South is in major financial strife following the possible exit of major sponsor Telkom, and funding from National Lottery fund ending in March. But now they get a helping hand from former South African swimmer and now Princess of Monaco Charlene Wittstock, offering them to host the South African Olympic team for free from June 1, ahead of the London 2012 Olympics. South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (Sascoc) CEO Tubby Reddy says: “We only have to cover travel expenses. She will take care of everything else. Herald Sun names Thorpe as top 3 comeback failure, Torres as top 2 success
Ouch, the Herald Sun has apparently given up on Ian Thorpe with the Olympic Trials yet to come, and names him the top 3 most unsuccessful comeback behind tennis player Bjorn Borg and boxing legend Muhammad Ali:
3: Ian Thorpe: We may never know the genuine reasons behind his comeback but to date it has been agonising to watch. Hopefully it will be all over soon.

USA’s Dara Torres is on the other hand the top 2 most successful comeback, only behind Formula 1 driver Nikki Lauda:

GoPro’s are like Lassie when it comes to finding their owner
This photo to the right is a screen grab from Anthony Banuelos’ GoPro video camera as he paddled out at San Onofre on February 12th. He had rigged his camera to the front of the surfboard and on his first wave, it came off. But a couple found it and were able to trace it back to Banuelos, and now another couple found a camera Sunday, that comments to this story on OC Register suggest is already on well its way back to its owner. -

70 hospitalized after chlorine exposure at Canadian swim meet
An adult and a child remain in hospital after a swim meet at a William Lake community swimming pool in British Columbia, Canada, where high levels of chlorine were detected early Sunday morning. 70 people were taken to hospital and treated for chlorine exposure, including 45 children, having their eyes flushed, showered, or in more serious chases, received oxygen.
