    A woman kayaking in the middle of a California bay has captured the moment a massive whale unexpectedly breached just meters away from her daughter. 9News via Arbroath

    The amoeba that affected this girl is actually pretty rare, but has fast-acting and severe consequences. However, there is also a more common bacteria called “Psuedomonas bacteria” that also lives in water and can destroy your sight in 24-36 hours. Thinking “it’s so rare, it’s likely never going to happen to me” could very well land you in hospital and possibly leave you blind!

  • Limb-less Philippe Croizon swims the Bering Strait

    French swimmer Philippe Croizon, who lost his limbs in an electrical accident aged 26, has successfully swum the freezing waters separating Alaska and Russia with the aid of paddle-like prosthetics. Saying this was the hardest swim he has ever done. Read for instance Rant Sports
