British journalist and author Rod Gilmour visited the Faroe Islands and the 2013 Faroese Short Course Swimming Championships this week, to do research for a book he is working on about Pál Joensen. Here is him being interviewed by Leivur Frederiksen at our national TV broadcasting company, during the second night of the Faroe Champs.

The convicted sports-doping doctor Eufemiano Fuentes is threatening to reveal the dirty secrets of the world’s major sporting events as he offers to sell his story to newspapers after being convicted on public health charges in Spain for his role in helping top cyclists to cheat.
Fuentes, considered one of international sport’s leading dope doctors, has sent out a list of subjects that – for a price – he is now prepared to talk publicly about. Australia have axed the coach of their scandal-hit 4x100m freestyle relay team for the world championships as part of a wide-ranging shake-up after last year’s Olympics flop, officials said Friday.
John Fowlie, who oversaw a medal-less showing by the world champions in London, moves aside for Brant Best, coach of relay anchor man James Magnussen, Swimming Australia said.
Pál Joensen celebrates his 100th Faroese Championships medal, whereof 82 were gold. He managed another one after this 100 IM medal, when setting a new Faroese record in the 100 meter (short course) breaststroke, clocking 1:03.00 ahead of junior record setting Markus Joensen in 1:04.77. So 101 medals in total now with one day to go at the 2013 Faroese Championships, aiming for his 100th gold medals next year. See the result list here.
