    Rebecca Adlington, who has won four Olympic medals in the pool, revealed she receives “abuse on a weekly basis” about her looks. “I was an athlete, I wasn’t trying to be a model, but pretty much every single week on Twitter I get somebody commenting on the way I look,” she said.

  • Upon conclusion of the Swedish Short Course Championships in Gothenburg tonight, the Swedish Swimming Federation announced a record large squad to represent Sweden at the LEN 2013 European Short Course Championships this December in Herning, Denmark, including 17 female and 16 male swimmers. Biggest names are undoubtedly Sarah Sjöström and Simon Sjödin, but promising are also for instance Michelle Coleman and the female breaststrokers led by Jennie Johansson and Joline Höstman.

    Simon Sjödin clocked 4:12.20 and a new championship record in the men’s 400 IM, Michelle Coleman beat Sarah Sjöström 52.33 to 52.47 in the women’s 100 freestyle.

    Summary

    Again tonight, a lot of Swedes qualifying for the Herning 2013 European Short Course Championships. The Swedes now have a full roster of female breaststrokers, 4 swimmers in each of the three breaststroke events, equalling the maximum number that LEN allows for the Europeans. Simon Sjödin set a championships record of 1:54.71 in the men’s 200 IM, and veterans Petter Stymne and Stefan Nystrand qualified in the men’s 50 freestyle.
