  • Australia’s mixed 4×50 relay two world records in one day

    At the World Cup meet in Singapore today, Australia’s mixed 4×50 meter medley relay broke the world record twice, with a time of 1:38.02 in the final, beating their own 1:39.08 world record from the prelims the same morning, and before that the 1:39.54 of France from Doha last month. The swimmers were Robert Hurley (backstroke, 23.47), Christian Sprenger (breaststroke, 25.97), Alicia Coutts (butterfly 25.35) and Cate Campbell (crawl, 23.23). See the result list here.

    A swimming instructor has been found guilty of secretly filming women in schools and leisure centres across eastern Scotland.

    Craig Brown, 31, also admitted having child pornography at his Dundee home.

    Brown admitted using his mobile phone to covertly take pictures and make videos of unsuspecting women in at least five locations.

    Sentence was deferred for reports until next month and the 31-year-old was placed on the sex offenders register.

    Theo St. Francis was a member of the Napa Valley Swim Team and later on became the captain of the North Bay Aquatics while attending Marin Academy. He was a Junior National level swimmer who was to be a member of the MIT swim team. While conducting a robotics experiment in an island near Boston Harbor, Theo was involved in an accident that left him paralyzed.     Three time Olympian and 11 time Olympic medalist, world record holder, and reality TV star, Ryan Lochte visited the Sharks Swim team on Thursday, October 24, 2013 to stress the importance of teamwork and setting goals. “Everyday, when I woke up, I would set a goal for myself and I wouldn’t stop until I reached that goal” explains Lochte. The Olympian spent several hours with the team swimming, answering questions, taking pictures and signing autographs.

    Le Clos and Lochte racing the men's 100 fly at Istanbul 2012At the FINA Swimming World Cup leg in Singapore tonight, South Africa’s Chad Le Clos became the first ever swimmer under 1:49 in the 200 short course meter butterfly, clocking 1:48.56 where his own record from the Eindhoven 2013 World Cup leg was 1:49.04.
