CC photo #688: Lego Challenge game during the HS/SSF Swim Day 2013
A not so typical for swimming game played during the “Swim Day” organized by (local club) Havnar Svimjifelag and (federation) Svimjisamband Føroya on Saturday 16 November 2013. A relay in which the kids took turns going into a room to observe and memorize a Lego model, that they then had to build without being able to see the model. Not so physical, but obviously fun and challenging, with the Lego bricks well suited for the wet environment.

Underwater Sorrow Movie Montage proves pools are for sadness
See Filmdrunk
Underwater Sorrow is mostly an indie film phenomenon, that I think I may have noticed first in the trailer for Philip Seymour Hoffman’s Jack Goes Boating. “Acoustic music plays and someone goes underwater for some reason†is one of the most pervasive indie movie tropes. I think it happens so often because it taps directly into the mindset of the indie filmmaker: being rich enough to have a pool, yet still being sad.

Bubble Man Attempts Run to Catalina Island
“In the 1957 song 26 Miles (Santa Catalina), The Four Preps describe several ways to get to Catalina Island – “the island of romance” – including joining the Navy, riding in a leaky boat and even swimming across with water wings.
The group didn’t suggest running, but that is what one man tried to do early Friday morning in Redondo Beach’s King Harbor using a giant inflatable bubble.
Iranian-born runner Reza Baluchi is attempting to be the first person in history to run from the mainland to Catalina Island and back inside a specially modified inflatable “Zorb” ball. In the process, he hopes to raise money to build schools for children in impoverished areas of the world and promote his message of peace.
“If your mind is strong, you can do anything you want,” Baluchi said before departing on his approximately 30-mile journey to the island.”
