Sky News host James Macpherson says common sense has “won the day” after the Court of Arbitration for Sport ruled transgender US swimmer Lia Thomas was “not eligible to compete in Paris as a woman”.

Mr. Macpherson said Thomas was in court “arguing for the right to race as a woman against women in Paris”.

‘Experience a day with swimmer Florian Wellbrock on his way to Paris. Day after day, the athletes of Team Germany work towards that one moment that will be remembered forever, not only by them, but also by all their fans and companions.

Florian became Olympic champion in open water swimming in Tokyo 2021. And with a confident margin that left no doubt. He has achieved a lot in terms of sport – but he has not experienced everything yet: Paris 2024 will be his first Olympic Games in Europe, and since the “Corona Games”, winning another medal would be a completely new experience if his family and fans could be there to celebrate with him. He works towards this goal every day with his training group in Magdeburg.’
