  • Anna is 16 and preparing for the baccalaurate. Her biggest dream is to go to the Olympic Games to represent her country, in the discipline that has been her body and soul since childhood, swimming. Every day Anna swims in the Club des Nageurs de Paris she chose to join. As part of the Elite group, coached by Yves, she organizes her time between pool, gym, school and family life. This schedule leaves little time for Anna to live her teenage life.

  • Tom Brady is known for taking a risk or two and sacrificing his body on the football field. Fans love that.

But when he goes on vacation and decides to jump off a crazy-high cliff just for the thrill of it? That’s a little different.

Such was the case this weekend as Brady posted a video on his Facebook page. Brady is seen at first contemplating the plunge. Someone (Gisele?) asks at the top of the video, “Are you going to jump, Tom?” […]

Needless to say, this all turned out well. At least, the dive did.

The Facebook feedback from his fans was definitely not as positive.

  • Canada’s track and field team has lost one of its most promising young sprinters.

Daundre Barnaby, who competed for Canada at the 2012 London Olympics, died in a swimming accident at a national team training camp in St. Kitts on Friday. He was 24.

“He was a very nice guy, he had ‘peace love and unity’ as his slogan for the team,” said Peter Eriksson, Athletics Canada’s head coach. “And he was a very important part of our 4×400 relay team, and also he had a great future as a 400-metre runner. We expected a lot from him in the years to come.”

The runner from Brampton, Ont., was swimming recreationally with teammates when he disappeared. Eriksson said he apparenlty lost his footing and was dragged away by an undertow.

  • Josh Stewart had an unexpected experience when he dived into the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Peru in search of a giant manta ray.

After encountering a 15-feet manta he tried to photograph’s the ray’s underbelly—a common practice to ID the manta—when the cheeky animal decided to take the diver on a quick swim.

Pushed by the ray, Stewart was forced to somersault under water before the animal swam away.

“I was just swimming down as I usually do to capture a manta ID shot and before I knew it, I was engulfed in the wings of this massive manta as I tumbled through the water,” Stewart told GrindTv. “I suffered no injuries but it was certainly a big surprise.”

  • South Korean Olympic swimming gold medalist Park Tae-hwan, serving an extended suspension following a positive drug test, was decidedly non-committal about his future on Friday.

Facing the press for the first time since getting slapped with an 18-month ban by FINA, the international swimming federation, earlier this week, Park said it was premature to talk about competing in the future.

Park said he was so devastated about the positive test last year that he briefly contemplated retirement but added it was “inappropriate” for him to talk about his future after disappointing so many people.

“I think it’s important for me to first apologize to the people I’ve let down and take time for some self-introspection,” Park said. “Swimming is everything to me. It’s all I’ve ever done and not being able to compete is hugely shocking. It’s as if my whole life has been taken away from me in an instant. It makes it difficult for me to think about retirement at this point.”
