Nine people were dead, including six children, and one man was missing after a flash flood roared through a popular Arizona swimming hole on Saturday afternoon.

The deadly incident at the Cold Springs swimming hole in Tonto National Forest followed heavy rains that had spurred thunderstorm and flash flood warnings from the National Weather Service in areas scarred by a recent wildfire.

The mastermind behind the Russian doping programme has revealed that he was able to corrupt the London 2012 Olympics only because he was invited to Britain by organisers and shown how they planned to catch cheats.

Grigory Rodchenkov, who ran the Moscow anti-doping laboratory from 2005 to 2015, has admitted that without this knowledge the Russian doping situation would have “collapsed” long before he fled the country two years ago.

“You can imagine how important the information from the London laboratory is for the Russian national team,” he says in the forthcoming film, Icarus. “I had information of what this laboratory was doing to understand where we are – and how much is danger. Without this, all Russian doping situation will be collapsed.”

A Brazilian appeals court ruled Thursday that Ryan Lochte had not broken the law by exaggerating about what happened during the gas station incident from the 2016 Olympics, according to USA Today Sports.

Lochte was charged with falsely communicating a crime because of an interview he did with NBC in which he said he and three other members of the United States swim team were robbed at gun point at a gas station while returning to the Olympic Village.

The court decided that Lochte had not broken the law because Rio police instigated the investigation, not Lochte, according to USA Today Sports. They add that the decision has not been published yet and prosecutors will have 15 days to appeal the ruling.
