A Thai soldier is getting his 15 minutes of fame, thanks to his skillful and successful resuscitation of a little puppy that nearly drowned.

According to local reports, the two-day-old puppy was discovered by a group of recruits in a garage by the barracks. A downpour had flooded the garage, and its mother could not reach it in time.

The soldier, Weeraphon Sukudom, can be seen performing traditional CPR on the baby, including patting its back to force out some of the water, and even mouth-to-mouth at one point.

The goal was an ambitious one: Create an underwater, “Iron Man”-inspired jetpack capable of propelling someone through water faster than Olympian Michael Phelps on his best day in the pool.

In the process, Ryan Kung and David Shulman, two Silicon Valley engineers behind “Eclectical Engineering” – a YouTube channel dedicated to bringing imaginative contraptions to life – knew they’d be embarking on their most dangerous project to date, a reality that did little to deter the duo.
