A horse was found in a swimming pool after seeking refuge from the Camp Fire in Paradise, CA.

When Jeff Hill of paradise, California returned to his evacuated neighborhood during the camp fire, he found a horse in a backyard swimming pool.

He said in a Facebook post the horse was tangled in the pool cover after escaping the flames.

He said, the pool cover prevented her from drowning. Hill says he scrambled to unhook the cover and guided the horse up the shallow end steps.

Resources eventually came to escort the horse from the fire zone.

Henrico County announced Tuesday that it will build the Henrico Aquatics Center, a 20,000-square-foot indoor swimming facility.

The facility will have a 25-yard pool with 8 lanes, a warm-water instructional pool with zero-depth entry, a waterslide, and a family spray area. There will also be family-friendly locker rooms, retractable spectator seating and parking. The facility will have means-based membership rates as well as daily rates.

“The Henrico Aquatics Center will be a game changer for youth and families,” County Manager John Vithoulkas said. “In addition to family swim times, the facility will offer swimming lessons, host practices and meets for our high school swim teams and get plenty of use by Henrico’s youth summer camps and community groups like the Police Athletic League.”
