• 17-year-old Sven Elfferich from the Netherlands set a new world record in the Ice Kilometer in 3.6°C water in Altenwörth, Austria in 11 minutes 55.40 seconds. His incredible swim broke the existing world record of 4-time Bulgarian Olympian Petar Stoychev of 12 minutes 15.87 seconds.

  • USA Swimming, the national governing body for the sport of swimming in the U.S., and Phillips 66, an energy manufacturing and logistics company, today announced a multi-year partnership renewal. Phillips 66’s renewed commitment to USA Swimming and the USA Swimming Foundation marks the longest running partnership in sports’ national governing body history, with the 50-year anniversary coming in 2023.

  • Even though Olympic swimmer Chad le Clos and his model girlfriend Jeanni Mulder have manic schedules that sometimes involve living in different countries, they’re totally smitten so nothing can stand in the way.

    Chad who is usually protective of his personal life announced on Instagram a few months ago that he’s off the market.

    And during an interview with YOU magazine ahead of Valentine’s Day on Thursday they gave fans a glimpse into their whirlwind romance.

    “I hadn’t wanted a girlfriend before the 2020 Olympic Games. But how could I let her go?” Chad told the mag.

  • If diving into frigid winter waters has always been a dream, you can now make it a reality through April. From Avon to Fort Collins, participants only have to raise $75 to take a doozy of a dip. Teams are also welcome to sign up, in case you want to do some extreme office team building.

    While the water won’t make a lasting impact, your donations will! Funds go to support Special Olympics of Colorado programs like Young Athletes, Unified Sports, Healthy Athletes, and Athlete Leadership Programs.

    “Every Plunge makes a difference for nearly 25,000 Special Olympics Colorado athletes. Special Olympics Colorado offers children and adults with intellectual disabilities year-round sports training and competition,” the organization says.

    And, taking the plunge is not all about freezing your appendages off — each event is a party in itself that is guaranteed to warm your heart (and eventually the rest of your body).   • Ranomi Kromowidjojo won Gold in the 50m at the FINA World Swimming Championships back in 2010, at Doha 2014, 2-years later in Windsor and again in Hangzhou, just a couple of months ago.

    Her Teammate Femke Heemskerk is on the same level and claimed 6 silver and 2 bronze medals in China, after being present on the podium for more than a decade now.

    We’re looking forward to more Dutch women power this year at the FINA competitions.
