In the middle of the Pacific Ocean, Ben Lecomte found a smog of microplastics threatening marine life and the health of our planet. With the 300 nautical mile swim complete, the mission continues to move to natural.

    80 days at sea
A 350 nautical mile swim through the Great Pacific Garbage Patch
3,800 pieces of floating debris recorded
    45,000 microplastics collected
    240 microfiber batches sampled
The first Trans-Pacific data set on plastic pollution ever achieved

“I reached my goal of swimming 300 nautical miles.
This expedition ends, but the real challenge
is for all of us. How are we going to
    tackle plastic pollution?

Swim the Gold Coast is Australia’s newest Marathon Swim for teams and individuals.

The course spans the length of the Gold Coast, from Coolangatta Beach in the South, to the iconic cityscape of Surfers Paradise in the North (21.5km).

Entry options include Solo, Duo Teams and Teams of four and we’ve scheduled the event in May – it’s an end of Summer goal for every swimmer and their mates.

If you’ve conquered iconic marathon swims like the Rottnest Channel or English Channel, Swim the Gold Coast should be on your bucket list.
