Swimming sensation Hwang Sun-woo has been selected to compete for South Korea in this year’s Asian Games and the World Championships.

He earned his spot to represent South Korea in these two events after he finished first in the men’s 100-meter freestyle with a time of 48-point-21 seconds.

The race was held on Monday in Gyeongsangbuk-do.

At last year’s World Championship in Budapest, Hwang won silver in the 200-meter freestyle, becoming the first South Korean swimmer to reach the podium in the event since Park Tae-hwan in 2011.

In 2021, he also set the new Asian record in the 100-meter freestyle at the Tokyo Olympics.
