Hong Kong-based swimmer and Splash volunteer Li Ling Yung-Hryniewiecki became the first Singaporean woman to swim 34km (21 miles) across the English Channel in September 2022, completing the swim in just under 13 hours. In the process, she raised funds for the expansion into Singapore of Hong Kong charity Splash, which gives free swimming lessons to domestic helpers.
