Kate O’Keefe said, “This was easy,” just a few minutes after finishing a relay swim of Lake George.

When you’ve delivered roughly 8,000 babies, apparently the rest is easy.

The recently retired OB/GYN rounded up a few of her friends last week and urged them to swim the 32-mile length of the lake in one-and-a-half hour shifts.

“We decided we needed to do something positive with all that’s going on in the world,” O’Keefe said Friday afternoon.

Most of the women are former patients of O’Keefe’s. They range in age from 55 to 71.

“Yeah, menopause marathon,” smiled O’Keefe.
