16 hundredths of a second was the gap between Ryan Lochte and Michael Phelps in one of the most memorable Men’s 200m Individual Medley Final in the history of the FINA World Championships. In the last 50m Phelps came back strong while Lochte managed to keep the pace and claim a Gold Medal and a New World Record in Shanghai.

Carmel Swim Club coach drowns in country club pool
The Carmel Swim Club is mourning the loss of a part-time coach who drowned in a local swimming pool just before noon July 20.
Liang Haoxiang, known as Benny, was found unresponsive at the bottom of the pool at Woodland Country Club, 100 Woodland Lane. Country club employees tried to resuscitate him until the Carmel police and fire departments arrived on scene, but the lifesaving efforts proved futile.
Police said foul play is not suspected. A death investigation is underway.

Georgia teen drowns in swimming accident, fourth person to die in Lake Lanier this month
A 17-year-old teenager has died in a drowning accident at a Georgia lake – marking the fourth person to drown in the lake this month.
Cristofer Acosta-Farias, of Gainesville, Ga., was swimming in Lake Lanier on Friday afternoon when he disappeared from view, The Gainesville Times reports.
