Mindfulness is a key component to fully enjoy the sport you competing in – arguably in life as well.
Our actions, thoughts, movements, and so much more tend to dictate how we feel and how well a swimmer develops.
Not all people practice mindfulness directly, but have some form of habits throughout a day or during practice that makes them mindful in one way or another.
I am encouraging you to be more mindful in your next workout – can you feel a new muscle you haven’t before? Are you feeling light, medium, or heavy in the water? Perhaps a mix of two.
Are you aware of you actions and how you treat others? Do you care how you want to be perceived?
What matters to you?
Why do your dreams matter?

Aquatics Coalition says pool exercise can play a role in COVID-19 fight
“We have learned that physical activity plays an important role in combating COVID-19, making access to pools and aquatic exercise more critical than ever. Significantly, it is seniors – the most vulnerable to the virus – who rely on pools for low-impact aquatic movement to stay healthy. They, along with those of all ages who rely on pools for rehabilitation or life-saving resources like swim lessons, can safely take part in aquatic activities as the CDC confirmed that the virus is not transmitted through chlorinated water. Pool facilitators are more than willing to work with their local public health officials to reopen with proper safety protocols such as social distancing, wearing a mask when not in the water, and frequent sanitation,†Shana Ferguson, chief commercial officer of USA Swimming and Aquatics Coalition representative, said. “We realize that despite the clear benefits of purpose-driven aquatics, the decision to reopen pools remains difficult. It is the reason the swimming community united to offer its guidance and best practices for a safer return to the water.â€

“Squidbot” propels itself with jets of water just like the real thing
When it comes to dreaming up locomotion solutions for advanced robots, scientists regularly turn to the natural world for inspiration, and the marine environment is a particularly rich source of ideas. The latest example of this is a highly efficient “Squidbot†developed by engineers at the University of California (UC) San Diego that uses a combination of soft and rigid materials to propel itself through the water much like the real thing.

Man bitten by shark while swimming off Miami Beach
A man has been taken to the hospital after he was bitten by a shark while swimming off Miami Beach.
According to city officials, the 31-year-old man was bitten by what they believe was a blacktip shark near 10th Street, Wednesday afternoon. The bite left an eight-inch laceration below his knee.
“The lifeguard came and whistled,†Daniel Ciforelli, a swimmer, said. “I’m like, ‘What? Is there a rip tide?’ He goes, ‘No, someone just got bit by a shark.’â€
Fire Rescue was able to get the bleeding under control, but the man was taken to Ryder Trauma Center as a precaution. The patient is currently in stable condition.
