A Ridgefield swimmer is heading to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics after qualifying in June.
Kieran Smith, 21, will be competing in the men’s 200 and 400-meter freestyle and is now in Tokyo preparing with Team USA.
Smith was a standout swimmer for Ridgefield High School and just completed his junior year at the University of Florida.
Coach Emmanuel Lanzo, of Ridgefield Aquatic Club, says he’s coached Smith since 2013. He says he knew Smith was destined for success.
