Tom Daley claimed Olympic gold at his fourth attempt, teaming up with Matty Lee to win the men’s 10m synchronised platform diving.
The nerveless duo finished with 471.81 points having never dropped out of the top two and took the Olympic title 1.23 points ahead of China, with the Russian Olympic Committee third.
This came after Adam Peaty became the first British swimmer to retain their Olympic title after winning Team GB’s first gold medal of Tokyo 2020 with victory in the men’s 100m breaststroke.
Tom Pidcock took Great Britain’s Olympic gold medal tally to three on Day Three of the Tokyo Games, winning the men’s mountain bike cross country.

Adam Peaty: Who Is the Team GB Gold Olympics Winner | Evening Standard
Adam Peaty wins gold for Team GB in 100m breaststroke at Tokyo Olympics.
There was never really a question mark about Adam Peaty’s gold, just whether it would be the first for Team GB.
And just as it had been in Rio de Janeiro, so it proved, the 26-year-old cementing his status as the greatest breaststroke swimmer of his generation – probably of all time – in another race against the clock.
This was as guaranteed a gold as there could be in Tokyo, certainly for Team GB and possibly across all countries and sports.
For those few lucky enough to be watching in person at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre and those committed enough to stay up after 3 am in the UK, the only race was against the clock.
And Arno Kamminga, the second quickest man of all time, kept him honest although his rival got the win more than half a second clear. Nicole Martinenghi took the bronze for Italy.
