Saudi Arabia’s Open Water Swimming Championship for 2021 was held at KAUST this weekend – and I (Eric) raced in it! Sports like triathlon, running, swimming, and cycling are all growing in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and a few weeks ago I was excited to learn that KAUST would be hosting the country’s (first?) open water championship! I tried out and qualified! The race was 4 kilometers (2.5 miles) for adults and they had 2 km and 3km options for the younger swimmers.
