    A terrified woman made a desperate call to the sheriff’s office when an intruder got onto her Florida property. It was nothing like these deputies had ever seen. “They didn’t go over this in the academy,” one deputy said to the other as they stared at the baby alligator lounging in this private pool.     A Nebraska child has died after becoming infected with the “brain-eating” amoeba Naegleria fowleri, health officials confirmed.

    The child – whose name or age has not been released – most likely became infected while swimming in the Elkhorn River. The child began showing symptoms about 5 days after swimming in a shallow area of the river, CNN reported. The child was admitted to the hospital within 48 hours after symptoms emerged and died days later
