    It may be SEA Games season, but Team Singapore’s swimmers are gunning for the Olympics. The key factor? Timings that will put them in pole position for Paris 2024. Among them is 17-year-old Nicholas Mahabir — some of his personal bests have already surpassed Games records. At the 2021 Hanoi SEA Games, Team Singapore’s swimmers won 21 gold medals. They also broke 10 SEA Games records and 13 national records.

    David Popovici donated one of his 2022 World Championships gold medals, having it melted to benefit children with cancer. “Hope is immune to cancer”, says David Popovici. Thus, the champion supports the first free genetic testing program for children diagnosed with cancer, launched by MedLife, the largest provider of medical services in Romania.

    Giving power to the people. That was the goal during Milwaukee County Parks and Rec’s open house Tuesday. Residents are getting an opportunity to help design the future of what aquatic facilities throughout the area will look like for the next 20 years.

    Janice Schoner has lived in the county all of her life.

    “​Hopefully, the people in charge will really take our suggestions to heart,” said Schoner.

    A series of hyper-realistic sculptures of swimmers were unveiled along Park Avenue Wednesday afternoon.

    “I want people to relate to the art, not just look at it,” said artist Carole Feuerman.

    But simply looking at these nine magnificent sculptures is so much a part of the experience.

    Now Carole’s creations are here along Park Avenue between 39th and 34th streets.

    Romanian swimmer David Popovici donated one of his 2022 World Championships gold medals, having it melted to benefit children with cancer.

    In a video featuring Popovici from the Romanian medical laboratory company MedLife, the ribbon is cut off a 2022 World Championships gold medal. The medal is then dipped into a machine that melts it.

    The medal is being cut into more than 100 gold bows — a symbol of the fight against childhood cancer — that will be given to children who beat cancer, according to MedLife.
