    Michael Phelps won all 5 of 5 events that he participated in at the Indianapolis 2011 Grand Prix this weekend, every time with a World’s best time this year. Thursday 1:46.27 in 200 freestyle and 51.75 in 100 fly, Friday 1:55.34 in 200 fly, and Saturday 1:56.88 í 200 IM and 48.89 in 100 freestyle, long course meters. He has never been faster outside of the big events, and still sees room for improvement. Read SwimmingWorld Magazine.

    According to the Herald Sun, russian Gennadij Touretski, who guided the careers of Olympic gold medallists and world record-breakers Michael Klim and Alexander Popov, is set to formally secure a new coaching deal with Ian Thorpe. Touretski coaches out of Tenero, a small town on the shores of Lake Maggiore, about an hour’s drive from the Australian Institute of Sport’s European headquarters in Varese, Italy.

  • Mellouli was under pressure from Tunesia

    Tunesian Oussama Mellouli feels reinvigorated now, following the revolution in his home country. He tells The New York Times that the now former government put pressure on him to acknowledge the president after major victories, calling his father to ask why his son didn’t dedicate his medals to the president.

  • Neethling is a winemaker now

    South African Ryk Neethling announces on Twitter today, that the “Val de Vie Wine and Polo Estate” will be launching his wine this evening, already listen in 26 restaurants. The vineyard’s blog announced on January 5 that Neethling had joined their team, as winemaker and share holder. Sweet.
