19-year-old Ryan Harris spent a night adrift in a 1-meter by 1-meter plastic fish bin after his boat was hit by big waves and overturned off the coast of Alaska, keeping his spirit up by singing “Rudolf, the Red-Nosed Reindeer” and “Row, Row, Row Your Boat”. His fellow crewmember Stonie “Mac” Huffman managed to get into a survival suit and washed ashore on a beach after 24 hours, using a plastic bin lid for additional flotation. Rescue says it is a miracle they survived, Harris that he kept repeating for four hours: “I’m Ryan Hunter Harris and I’m not going to die here.” Read for instance The Vancouver Sun and The Daily Sitka Sentinel

If you’ve wondered what a crab trap looks like underwater, wonder no more. Vancouver videographer and journalist James Keller put a waterproof camera in a crab trap and dumped it into the waters off North Vancouver. The camera is a GoPro, and I now have a project for this weekend, see Huffington Post
